“Rolln’ like a butterfly on a caffeine fix” - My first business card and the result of way too much mountain dew. The classic butterfly logo has been the most popular over the years despite Homestead Bicycles’ underground life from 1995-2019, so it seemed obvious to be the first logo to rise again. The squiggled handwriting and stretched out butterfly with the clean colors symbolized freedom for me. Starting a BMX bicycle company at 19 and wrestling with squared and contained fonts just wasn’t working. I found some sketches I’d done while Cycle Craft was welding the first batch of prototypes and the butterfly must have just happened on the page, like it just seemed a perfect extension of the lettering. “Since 1991” is a bit of a joke in itself but hey I love shirts with more meaning beneath the surface! Represent proudly and go chase your dreams - you never know where they’ll lead.
